About this event

The cold weather can be brutal for homeless folks.

That’s why we’ll help you organize a contact-free coat drive in your neighborhood. We’ll give you all the tools you need and, if you live in the Antelope Valley, a place to drop off the coats once you’ve collected them. It will be simple, fun, and contact-free, even if you don’t know your neighbors yet.

This contactless coat drive training is open to folks anywhere in the country but will highlight organizations/opportunities in the Antelope Valley.

Still wondering how it will work? I got you.

At the virtual training on MLK Day (1/18), I’ll be giving you printables that you can print, then cut out. The printable’s will explain about the coat drive and ask any neighbors who want to participate to put any gently-used coats that they wish to donate in a plastic bag/trash bag by their front door on the morning of 1/20. You’ll then walk around the neighborhood after the training, dropping off the printables at your neighbor’s doorstep.

Then on 1/20 (Biden’s inauguration), you’ll walk that same route collecting any plastic bags of coats that you find and drive them to my garage, where some awesome folks will make sure they get to our homeless neighbors.
We’ll also hear from local homeless advocates here in the Antelope Valley and learn more about other ways to get involved.

Hope you can join us and make the very first day of the Biden presidency once in which our community comes together to help those in need!
