Ways to help | Altrusa Teen SHARE MentorAssist teens with life skills development. Provide Tutoring.Transport AssistanceArrange/pick up large item donations from community members/businesses. Helping clients move.Shelterhouse CoverageProvide supportive services to survivors of Domestic and Sexual Violence. 40 hours of training required.Shelter Cleaning & OrganizationGeneral house cleaning, laundry, organizing cupboards, etc. Sorting/putting away food in pantry, rotating food in pantry, re-stocking house cupboards with food.Office AssistanceMaking copies or stuffing envelopes.Facilities/Ground MaintenanceAssist with property facilities maintenance: painting, interior decorating projects, repair work, etc. Assist with grounds maintenance: landscaping, yard clean up, and special projects as needed.Child CareChild care for dependents of survivors during appointments, legal proceeding, job interviews, etc.Crisis Line WorkProvide appropriate crisis intervention – empathetic listening and empowerment counseling. Provide appropriate referral information to callers about community agencies. Thoroughly document crisis/referral calls on appropriate forms. 40 hours of training required.Fundraising/special projectsOrganizing and carrying out fundraising events with Fundraiser Committee or Board of Directors. Staffing a display or information table at community events. |

How you help | The primary purpose of volunteers at the Branch County Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence is to assist agency staff in activities that allow us to achieve our mission of providing emergency, supportive services. Volunteer activities range from direct service, organizing, cleaning, fundraising and special projects; like the one in the video. We hope to see you soon! |
