Ways to help | GED TutorAssist adults in studying and preparation for the GED tests. Study guides and practice tests provided.Clothing Room OrganizationSort clothing donations for usable (in season) items, fold, hang and organize donated clothing and other items. May assist clients find needed items.Maintenance/GroundsAssist with housekeeping and maintenance of the building and grounds. Jobs may include: cleaning office areas and meeting rooms, cleaning interior and exterior of building, minor building repairs, washing windows, minor appliance repairs, weeding landscape, etc.Tutoring ChildrenAssist children who need help with homework and content retention. During the summer, may assist in preparedness for next school year/summer reading programs.Crisis Office WorkerEnsure that appropriate services are provided to residential and non-residential clients who are victims of domestic violence and sexual assault by answering phones, directing calls, and providing advocacy. Complete training and job shadowing is provided.Administrative/Secretarial SupportAssist and provide clerical support services by filing, data entry, make, collate booklets, typing and bulk mailings, walk-in client referrals, answering guest questions, writing receipts for donations.Child CareTo provide childcare services to clients during counseling sessions, while making phone calls, attending group sessions, etc. Also, to assist the Children's Program Director with children's activities and with shelter needs. May also plan appropriate activities for children of all ages. |

How you help | Bay Area Women’s Center welcomes the assistance of volunteers and interns to aid us in providing an array of quality services to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Volunteer and intern assistance is incorporated into every aspect of the agency from maintenance of the facility to direct client services. |
