Deliver Meals

The caring individuals who deliver meals are at the heart of what we do at Ypsilanti Meals on Wheels. For many of our clients, a volunteer is the only person they see all day. For some, their favorite part of our program is seeing the smiling faces of the volunteers and taking a few minutes to visit. Opportunities are available Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and on holidays. All volunteers will be assigned to their own mini routes. Volunteers can participate on a regular basis that meets your schedule, or you can ask to be called when needed. Background check required.

How you help More than 200 volunteers donate over 1,200 hours annually to help YMOW fulfill its mission to deliver nutritious food and friendly companionship to its homebound neighbors.
About us Ypsilanti Meals on Wheels was a program idea that originated from the city of Ypsilanti’s Mayor’s Council on Aging. Meal service began on January 14, 1974 to 16 homebound individuals. As time passed and the demand grew, Ypsilanti meals on Wheels purchased vans and equipped them with refrigerators and microwave ovens. Today, Ypsilanti meals on Wheels owns four vans and delivers approximately 200 hot meals each day, Monday through Friday. Along the way YMOW added services to help seniors age in their homes, including pet food delivery through a partnership with Huron Valley Humane Society, minor home repairs, a personal care pantry, weekly produce deliveries, case management, and CAPABLE - a program to help local seniors live more safely in the comfort of their own home.
