Food Distribution

During this pandemic masked and gloved volunteers work during the Pantry's food distribution hours moving produce, meat in coolers, milk and pre-filled grocery bags outside onto tables under a shelter. They place items designated by shoppers into bags, and assist with crowd control to help everyone to physically distance themselves. Volunteers are expected to dress for the weather as shifts are outdoors and last for 2 hours. We pack up all food at the end of each shift. Other volunteers work behind the scenes at other times to prepare for our open hours. Others prefer to organize food drives, either regularly scheduled or occasional, or to leave donated groceries in bins outside the pantry which are emptied daily.

How you help There are as many ways to help as there are helpers! Others still have found their own unique ways to raise funds for the pantry.
About us The People’s Pantry was founded in 1999 in response to the need for increased access to healthy food for low-income residents of South Berkshire County. The People’s Panty is entirely run by volunteers from the community. Each Monday and Thursday it is staffed by members of teams from local churches, synagogues, and other groups. These teams and many other organizations and individuals support the Pantry with food collections and financial donations.
