Our missionThe Good Deed Project is a sustainability-focused, volunteer-fueled organization that provides life-transformative, safe and healthy living environments for the most vulnerable in our community. We offer critical-need home rehabilitations, renovations, repairs, accessibility retrofits and aging-in-place modifications – and provide no-cost furniture and home essentials – to address basic and emergency needs for low-income households and those transitioning from homelessness or other dangerous situations. We’re on a mission to enrich living environments, build stronger and more resilient communities, and develop the potential of our volunteers, donors and partners to have a greater impact on the overall health of individuals and their families, fostering self-sufficiency and independence for thriving futures in Nevada.

About usThe Good Deed Project started as a pro-bono project in 2014 — a full renovation of domestic violence shelter S.A.F.E. House, which included a partnership with NV Energy to fund an energy efficiency retrofit — and has grown into a community-wide resource with a holistic approach to our vision of safe and healthy living for all! Our priority is the stability and strength of health and home. To that purpose, we proudly offer home resources through our Building + Delivering Hope programs, which provide home repairs addressing complex safety/repair issues requiring expert solutions, as well as furnishings such as beds for children (our most requested item). Our most extensive renovation to date was an accessibility retrofit valued at $100k for a family battling the effects of a disability. Services also include seasonal emergency food supply to families experiencing food insecurity in partnership with local schools – distributing nearly 25,000 lbs. of food and establishing emergency food pantries in 20 schools this past holiday season – and educational mentoring in STEAM disciplines for the purpose of designing and creating better living environments. We serve children, families, seniors, veterans and special needs individuals, with special consideration given to those in critical, hazardous and/or life-threatening situations and circumstances beyond their control that affect their health and well-being. Our efforts are fueled by generous, invested community partners and hundreds of volunteers who combine their skills, knowledge, experience and compassion in support of positive living environments and a healthy community. We believe everyone deserves an opportunity to flourish!
