Ways to help

4-H Volunteer

There is no specific age requirement to be a 4-H Volunteer. Youth Volunteers, with the emotional maturity and leadership ability necessary to function in a volunteer role, are important partners in Ohio 4-H programs. Ohio 4-H works with a variety of individuals, with differing interests, skills and abilities, as 4-H volunteers.

Master Gardener

This program provides intensive training in horticulture to interested Ohio residents, who then volunteer their time assisting with educational programs and activities for Ohio residents through their local OSU Extension county office. Master Gardener Volunteers provide such educational services to their communities as: answering gardening questions from the public; conducting plant clinics; gardening activities with children, senior citizens, or disabled persons; beautifying the community; and developing community or demonstration gardens.

How you help Volunteers not only learn about gardening, but also share this knowledge with others in their community! Additionally, the dedication and commitment of our volunteers make 4-H Youth Development possible.
About us Since 1914, Extension has been helping all Ohioans build better lives, better businesses and better communities. Ohio State University Extension brings the knowledge of the university directly to you. We fulfill the land-grant mission of The Ohio State University by interpreting knowledge and research developed by Extension and other faculty and staff at the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center, Ohio State main campus, and other land-grant universities – so Ohioans can use the scientifically-based information to better their lives, businesses and communities.
