Be a Mentor for a Low-Income Student!

Minds Matter connects driven and determined high school students from low-income families with the people, preparation, and possibilities to succeed in college, create their future, and change the world.Minds Matter supports students in their sophomore, junior, and senior year. Our program offers a unique combination of mentoring support, group instruction, and social-emotional learning. We provide students with the resources and guidance needed to gain admission, enroll, and succeed at rigorous four-year colleges. Support continues during college with internships, professional skills-building, and access to our alumni platform. We are currently seeking mentors for sophomores and juniors in high school! A differentiator of our program is the 2:1 mentor to student ratio. Two mentors guide, challenge, and champion their students. Mentors serve as critical resources to students throughout the program by offering advice and counsel through academic, social, and professional opportunities.

About usMinds Matter of Los Angeles helps academically achieving students from low-income families achieve their dream of a college education. Minds Matter is a transformative program inspiring students by providing knowledge and skills necessary for unlocking their full potential and enhancing academic performance. Students enter our program as sophomores, undertaking a rigorous three-year program of academic tutoring. Each student has two mentors who guide them through their college journey. We work with their families, navigating the difficult financial aid and scholarship process.
