TransporterWe need transporters to help with delivering supplies to foster homes and shelters. The address listed is for the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter, where some of the supplies are delivered. We have foster homes mostly based in West LA, but a few spread throughout L.A. Once we get to know you, we'll entrust you with bunny transport to the veterinarians, etc.Foster a Rabbit & Get Your Bunny Fix Without the Ten-Year CommitmentFostering a bunny or two is a fulfilling way to help save rabbits without the long-term expenses or commitment. You can foster for any length of time. Prefer homes within 20 miles of adoption venue (Mar Vista/West LA). Indoors only! We're a premier rabbit organization; our rabbits are neutered and box trained to varying degrees. We do not cage rabbits: they live in a playpen when not supervised, or a well-bunnyproofed room. We supply an exercise pen or baby gate if needed, a litter box, vinegar for cleaning, water crock, initial litter, hay, pelleted food, toys, tarp and floor sheet. We may provide other supplies and initial greens. Hay and other basic supplies are provided free as needed on an ongoing basis.Make wooden toys for bunniesSimple, easy project involving turning untreated lumber into rabbit chew toys. Great project for groups such as boy scouts or can be a one-person job. The toys are made by cutting wood into small cubes, drilling a hole through the cubes, and knotting a piece of thick jute or sisal on either side of the hole. We can reimburse the cost of lumber and jute or sisal.Carpenter to make wooden boxesWe need wooden boxes for rescued rabbits. The boxes will be patterned after rabbit "nest boxes" and would keep bunnies warmer, and give them a place to hide and a box to jump on. Unfortunately we don't have the funding for any supplies so they would have to be donated. Supplies: 3/4" solid unfinished pine wood, small nails or screws. We have a blueprint for the boxes that we will email to anyone wanting to make them. This would be a super project for a school group, Eagle Scouts, etc. |

| About us | Domestic rabbits are the third highest population of animals put to sleep in shelters in the United States. Human beings have a responsibility to these rabbits as they are domestic rabbits bred by people. We believe that by saving these rabbits, we also enrich the lives of people who care for them. We envision a day when public animal shelters in the County of Los Angeles are fully staffed with volunteers knowledgeable about house rabbits. In addition, we hope to establish a spay/neuter fund for low-income families to help address the domestic rabbit overpopulation problem in the Los Angeles area. |
